Your old wireless set can be rejuvenated and converted without spoiling its nostalgic
charm. This can be done directly inside the existing cabinet or as a stand alone
plug in unit. A great many old wireless sets lie around unused due to their age,
are not working or considered as risky due to the old parts and wiring inside. Some
can have a live chassis with all the dangers of electric shock. I can inspect, repair
and make safe and such issues.
On the other hand many old wireless sets still work very well but stations on Medium
Wave and Long Wave are dwindling and Short Wave broadcasts are rapidly making way
to satellite and the internet .... Even before the big digital switchover medium
wave stations in Great Britain are limited..... Ok, Radio 5 Live is a stalwart,
Talksport, Absolute.... Maybe a few local stations? But is this it? You really are
limiting your listening pleasure by not having DAB or FM as well! In many parts
of the country MW/LW reception can be weak and prone to interference ,especially
at night.
By the addition of DAB/FM a whole new world of listening through your valve wireless
can be enjoyed! You retain the existing wavebands but get much more out of your wireless
which now becomes not just a beautiful and interesting addition to your living
space with much more character than modern black or silver box radios, but also can
now become a fully working and flexible mainstay of your listening requirements.
All my work is aimed at saving the common and relatively plentiful and popular old
valve wireless sets to give them a new lease of life.... I will not spoil the originality
of any sought after and valuable collectors set but there are thousands of old wireless
sets out there that are sadly destined for the dump but which could be saved and
used for another 50 or 60 years .... And with my DAB/FM unit you even get remote
control!
